Complex trauma is a name given to describe an outcome that can occur when a child is exposed to multiple negative events/acts/experiences which involves (usually) a trusted adult who is known to the child. These events/acts/experiences are pervasive, involve a betrayal of trust and are often secret in nature. The complexity of the actual event/act/experience coupled with betrayal of trust and pervasiveness has a traumatic effect which is cumulative in nature, and which leads to emotional, and/or physical and /or psychological pain and confusion which continues through into adulthood, even if and when the trauma may have been forgotten or'addressed'.
At Satori you will be provided with a therapist experienced in working in the area of complex trauma and who will work at your pace.
